Mentioning Bot users doesn't subscribe them to a task

Hi

I have a Bot user “RemindMe” and an associated script that looks for its subscribed tasks to post a comment at a given time. The idea is that a user can type:

@RemindMe tomorrow

This should subscribe RemindMe to the task. The script then sees that as a subscription, then compares the time “tomorrow” to the time the request was posted. If this time has expired, it posts a reminder, then unsubscribes itself from the task.

This used to work, but doesn’t any more. The problem is that the Bot is no longer subscribed to the task when it is @ mentioned. Was this deliberate?

I have also noticed that if you search for in the search box, it shows with a line through it, as though it has been disabled, although it hasn’t:

Was this deliberate?

Yes, see the 2019 Week 11 Changelog:

Mentioning a bot with @bot in a comment no longer adds them as a subscriber automatically. They can still be added using “Change Subscribers”.
